O cântăreață de noapte glamorousă, devenită spion, a furat planurile marinei americane pentru un nou submarin, iar un agent FBI pe nume Burt se află la Londra pentru a o prinde. Burt îl consideră pe Poirot un detectiv de duzină, iar Poirot nu este impresionat de G-man-ul plin de sine. Poirot este atras în caz atunci când se dovedește că planurile submarinului vor cădea în mâinile guvernului fascist din Italia, cu excepția cazului în care sunt recuperate. Când Poirot întâlnește un cuplu tânăr care a obținut o ofertă uimitoare pentru un apartament de primă clasă, el vede o legătură cu cazul spionului.
