Echipa se întoarce de pe o planetă comercială cu o încărcătură de biscuiți și un extraterestru timid pe nume Traltixx, care promite că poate modifica electromagnetismul lui Moya pentru a o face imposibil de urmărit. Crichton este sceptic; pare prea frumos ca să fie adevărat. Pe măsură ce trec printr-o constelație de pulsari, o paranoia intensă afectează echipajul, transformându-i violent unii împotriva celorlalți.
